Studio 1 Completed
(well, about 95% anyway)
We took hold of the keys on Monday, cleaned, sanded & fitted the woodwork Monday night, then installed the gear yesterday. All feeds from microphone & playout to the pc are working fine, with all levels registering clearly. Now we’re waiting the IT & Telephone sockets to be fitted and made live, so very soon after that, we’ll be able to point the master outgoing feed to a beta website, and run some test transmissions.
Here’s a couple of shots to show how it looks at the moment, we’ll be adding the “fluffy” stuff (chairs, tables, notice and sound boards etc) very soon. Sorry about the reflections on some, but to get the overall frame correct, I had to shoot it through the glass in the corridor.
Then, following a beer and a balti, I went and ran an interview with Francis Dunnery, came back to the studio, and edited this piece together, just to see if all the gear was working correctly (note to self- don’t record in a cave!)
So, in a nutshell, the first studio is in, and working.
Next step, maybe another meeting so people can all decide your own programme schedule, availability etc, and then for those who need it, some training.

I’ve had a couple of people email me becaue they can’t make it tomorrow. My apology for the short notice. However, Dan is meeting the marketing team anyway, and the web team should have progress updates for us too- there’s also some new people that are looking to join in, so let’s go ahead, and see who turns up……
Hi all.
I will try, but can’t promise to make it tomorrow, as I’ve accepted a contract in Henley which has a slightly awkward train service. Will try and get into the Custard Factory for between 7 and 7:30.
Anyway, as far as progress goes, I’m really awaiting a design from whomever is concerned, as putting a page together will take a very short amount of time once I have something to work to. If the marketing department, or other members of the Web team have got something in the way of ideas, once I know what the hosting arrangement is – which I can discuss with Paul tomorrow, or over email should I not make it – I can have something up by Saturday I should think.
Hope that sounds reasonable. If not, or you’ve got any questions please email me: mark[at]bluemilkshake[dot]co[dot]uk.
Cheese,

By the way…sorry…the studio looks awesome.
Hey
This looks really great, I am going to be away for a month on holiday now but please keep me updated, I won’t forget!
Becky
A quick update- the RJ45 socket went in yesterday. ITLAB will be making the socket live on Monday, so come Monday afternoon, the studio will be able to speak to the outside world. Mark and Andy are beavering away in the background to get some initial ideas for the beta website up, we’re discussing streaming bandwidth, servers & access and mp3 hosting with suppliers, so it shouldn’t be long now before we can start broadcasting.
